President Trump’s proposed 2018 federal budget would gut major programs and protections for birds and America’s public lands, putting decades of conservation achievements at risk. With so much on the line, it’s imperative that we send Congress a loud, unmistakable message that such extreme cuts will not stand.

Drastic reductions in the proposed federal budget would reduce on-the-ground conservation at a time when one-third of migratory bird species, including the Kentucky Warbler (shown), are already in decline. Birds are sensitive indicators of environmental health as a whole, and the loss of migratory birds signals a potential crisis that Congress must act now to reverse.

But that’s not all: Three federal agencies critical to bird conservation—the Department of Interior, the Department of Agriculture, and the Environmental Protection Agency—are facing drastic budget cuts that will significantly reduce federal bird protections.

Please act now! Tell your Senators and Representative: Make protecting migratory birds and the conservation programs they depend on a priority. Thank you.

Dear [Representative/Senator],

Please oppose President Trump's proposed 2018 budget, which would gut major programs and protections for birds and for America's public lands, putting decades of conservation achievements at risk. The drastic cuts being proposed will reduce on-the-ground conservation at a time when one-third of migratory bird species are in decline.

As one of the more than 47 million Americans who enjoys watching and feeding birds, I urge you to pass a budget that funds bird conservation programs like the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act (NMBCA), Migratory Bird Joint Ventures (JV), Endangered Species Act Recovery, Farm Bill Conservation Programs, and the Environmental Protection Agency Pesticides Program at the highest level possible.

Please work to fund these essential bird conservation programs at the highest level possible and to keep the bill free of anti-environment riders to benefit our nation's birds and other wildlife which are cherished by millions Americans. Thank you for your help in conserving America's birds and wildlife.

Sincerely,
