ADA Amendments Act Passed in the Senate!

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Amendments Act passed the Senate today by unanimous consent.  This is truly a remarkable accomplishment which was accomplished in part by your ongoing efforts to educate legislators on the importance of this critical legislation!

This bill (S. 3406) corrects court decisions which claim that a person with a chronic condition like diabetes cannot utilize this law as a defense when one loses his or her job because of their condition.  It is one of the noteworthy advancements in discrimination law since the original passage of the ADA in 1990.

Since the bill has some provisions that differ from the House bill, the two bills will need to be reconciled by a Conference Committee. We are optimistic that this will happen and it will be sent to the President prior to October recess before the Election.

Thank you again for all of your efforts to educate your legislators on the importance of this critical legislation!
