Welcome to My Personal Page
Team: The Dance Works
My name is Gina and I have been affected by this autoimmune disease (lupus) for the past 17 years. Though I felt symptoms in 2000, I was not diagnosed until 2008. This is typical of this disease, which is often challenging to pinpoint right away.
Lupus took over my joints to the point of not being able to walk, grab objects, etc. It has also affected my skin. After a couple years working with my doctors and the right medication I now have it under control and can enjoy most of my days without constant pain.
We are excited to be participating as The Dance Works Team in the Boston Walk with Us to Cure Lupus event. Walk with Us to Cure Lupus is the Alliance for Lupus Research’s (ALR) signature national fundraising program. As a team, friends, family and colleagues come together to raise awareness of Lupus and raise funds for lupus research.
Lupus is a devastating autoimmune disease that affects an estimated 1.5 million Americans, making the disease more common than leukemia, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and cystic fibrosis. The exact cause of lupus is unknown and there is no known cure.
The Lupus Research Alliance’s Walk with Us to Cure Lupus is a national fundraising program that changes lives and brings people together in the common goal to find a cure for lupus.
I choose to walk with Lupus Research Alliance because of its commitment to prevent, treat and cure lupus. Since 1999 the Lupus Research Alliance has committed over $100-million to lupus research, making it the largest private funder of lupus research in the world.
We’d love for you to join our team, but if you can’t make it to the walk on June 2nd, you can still be a part of the movement. Click Donate Now or Make a Gift to make a donation to my team fundraising page.
100% of your donation will go to support lupus research programs, because the Lupus Research Alliance Board of Directors funds all fundraising and administrative costs.
By supporting me in my fundraising efforts, we are ensuring that the Lupus Research Alliance can continue to advance medical research and help the many people living with this disease.
My Walker ID Number is NE-600039
