Team Amy H.
Dear Friends and Family,
We are excited to be participating as a team in the New Jersey Walk with Us to Cure Lupus! It's hard to believe it's another year already. It's gone fast. I am happy to report it has been a good year for us. I have remained stable with both my Lupus and my PAH. So much so that my Lupus doctor has weaned me off of prednisone. One less medication in the cabinet!! I've bben on prednisone in various dosages since I was ten. This is a a very big milestone. My joints and bones thank me too. I have recently started a once a year infusion of Reclast so the bones remain as healthy as possible. The prednisone has done its damage over the years. Speaking of joints and bones, I had my five year (yes, five!) follow-up with my orthopedic surgeon. All three bionic parts and doing great. In fact, his comment was "I couldn't have asked for better". I go in two years for another check-up, but otherwise I am to keep up what I'm doing. I told my physical therapist he's stuck with me! Thanks Dave! Besides a bout with the flu, things have been good.
Walk with Us to Cure Lupus is the Lupus Research Alliance’s signature national fundraising program. As a team, friends, family and colleagues come together to raise awareness of lupus and funds for lupus research.
Lupus is a devastating autoimmune disease that affects an estimated 1.5 million Americans, making the disease more common than leukemia, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and cystic fibrosis. The exact cause of lupus is unknown and there is no known cure.
We chose to walk as a team with Lupus Research Alliance because of its commitment to prevent, treat and cure lupus. Since 1999, the Lupus Research Alliance has committed over $172-million to lupus research, making it the largest private funder of lupus research in the world.
We’d love for you to join our team, but if you can’t make it to the Walk on Saturday, May 19th, you can still be a part of the movement. To support our team’s fundraising efforts click on one of our names below to make a donation. 100% of your donation will go to support lupus research programs, because the Lupus Research Alliance Board of Directors funds all fundraising and administrative costs.
