Raising Money for T2!

Team to End AIDS (T2) is a training program for individuals to participate in endurance events this season. The team is also raising funds to support the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC), which connects people to the services in the Chicagoland area need and is working with other organizations throughout the state to get Illinois to reach zero new HIV transmissions by 2030.

In 2010 I ran the Chicago Marathon with the CARA training team on behalf of American Cancer Society. Through a personal connection to the director of T2, I got excited to to get back into endurance runs and commited to running 13.1 miles in September. Unfortunately, my herniated disc sent me back to physical therapy and I'm not going to be able to run. But I am able to raise money for the cause!

HIV and AIDS are not in the news much these days, but an estimated 28,000 people throughout Chicago are living with HIV and need equitable access to services, such as housing, health care and case management, in order to stay healthy. I want to help raise awareness and eradicate the stigma attached to HIV, all while benefiting the cause.

Help me help thousands of people across Illinois! Donate to my T2 campaign today. Just click the DONATE TO ME button on the right.

How will the dollars be used? Here are some examples:

$36 - 3 HIV tests

$59 - 20 meals for a person living with HIV

116 - 1 mental health care session

266 - 1 day of community engagement and mobilization in IL

670 - 1 month of supportive housing for a person living with HIV and their family.

PS the T2 training program is amazing. The level of personal attention and extra perks are crazy awesome. If anyone is interested in training up for a race in Chicago I highly suggest checking out T2.
