Questions about fundraising

Do I have to raise money to attend the Walk?
You don’t need to raise money to attend, but your financial support makes it possible to help thousands of animals in need in our community. If you choose to fundraise, you’ll not only be making an impact on the lives of animals, but you can also score some great prizes! If you choose not to raise funds, we suggest a $25 donation at the Walk.

Can I still raise money if I cannot attend the Walk?
Yes! While we’d love to see you there, you can still raise money if you’re unable to attend. If you have offline funds to turn in, either attend our early check-in on May 4 or mail them with your completed Donation Tracker form to:

Can I raise money offline (checks and cash) if I sign up online?
Absolutely! Every participant may choose their preferred fundraising method. Please log all offline donations on a Donation Tracker form. You may hold onto cash and checks until check-in, but we suggest turning in your donors' dollars early. It's more secure, and it saves AHS money!

Where can I get a Donation Tracker form for my offline donations?
Download the form here or request one be sent to you in the mail by emailing walk@animalhumanesociety.org or calling 763-432-4841.

How can I include funds raised offline on my website total?
So that you're offline donations are accurately reflected on your Personal Page, send your collected donations with a completed Donation Tracker form to:

In order to ensure your gifts are verified before the Walk, please mail all offline donations no later than April 14. If you receive donations after April 14, please bring them with you to check-in. We suggest turning in your donors' dollars early — it's more secure, and it saves AHS money!

Why isn’t a gift showing on my online fundraising page?
It can take up to 15 minutes for gifts to show up on your personal fundraising page. If a gift still doesn’t appear, it may be for one of the following reasons:

  1. If you are on a team, it‘s possible that the donor submitted the donation on the team page instead of your individual page. If you need a donation moved, please let us know by filling out form #1 located at the bottom of this page.

  2. The donor used the general Animal Humane Society donation form rather than donating to your personal fundraising page. If you need a donation moved, please let us know by filling out form #1 located at the bottom of this page.

  3. If your donor did not receive a confirmation email, the donation may not have been processed. Please have them check with their bank or credit card company to ensure they haven't been charged and then try the process again.

When is the last day to raise money online?
You can collect donations through your personal fundraising page through June 30, 2017. Please note that prizes are awarded based on your fundraising total on the day of the Walk.

What if I raise additional money after submitting my funds at early check-in on May 4?

You can do one of two things:

  1. If you’d like to receive any additional prizes you may have qualified for, bring your early check-in receipt along with another completed Donation Tracker form and any donations collected in a Walk for Animals envelope to check-in on Walk day. Your additional donations will be added to your fundraising total.

  2. You can also mail in another completed Donation Tracker form along with the additional funds collected (do not mail cash) to Animal Humane Society after the event.

What do I do with donations I receive after the Walk?

How will my donors get tax receipts for their donations?
All donors who include their full name and mailing address with their donation will receive a thank you letter from Animal Humane Society, which includes donation information and can be used for tax purposes.

It’s important to use our Donation Tracker form to collect this information so the donors can receive their acknowledgements.

Questions about donating

Is donating online secure?
Yes! Animal Humane Society partners with online fundraising experts to ensure online transactions are secure.

I’ve made a donation, but it’s not showing up on the individual’s page.
Please keep in mind it can take up to 15 minutes for a gift to appear on a personal fundraising page. If your gift still doesn’t appear, it may be for one of the following reasons:

  • Your donation may have gone to a Walker’s team page. Please check if your gift is listed on their team page and Contact us by emailing walk@animalhumanesociety.org to move it to their personal fundraising page.

  • If you received a confirmation email, but the donation is not showing up on their personal or team page, your gift may have been credited to the general Walk donation form. Contact us by emailing walk@animalhumanesociety.org to move the donation to a specific Walker.

  • If you provided your email address and have not received a confirmation email, your donation most likely was not processed. Please check with your bank or credit card company to confirm you haven't been charged and then try the process again.

Can I change the recognition name of a donation I’ve made?
Yes, please let us know by submitting form #2 located at the bottom of this page. We will then be able to update the donation with the recognition name you’d like.

I’ve made several donations on behalf of other individuals. However, they are still credited towards me. Can you help?
Yes, please let us know by submitting form #2 located at the bottom of this page. We can then credit the donations to the correct person.

I’ve made a donation on a friend's computer and the donation was credited to them instead of me. Can you help?
Yes, please let us know by submitting form #2 located at the bottom of this page. We can then update our records and give you credit for your gift.

Questions about teams

How many people make up a team?
Three or more people are required to form a Walk team. Team categories are Friends and Family, Corporate, or Veterinary Clinic.

I registered as an individual but now would like to join or create a team. What do I do?
Let us know by filling out form #3 located at the bottom of this page. We will then be able to update your record.

Where do teams check in on Walk Day?
Team members check in individually at the designated location based on the funds they have personally raised.

How are the prizes awarded to me if I’m part of a team?
Prizes are awarded based upon individual fundraising accomplishments regardless of team affiliation.

Form #2 — Change the donor name or recognition name of an existing donation

Please note the difference in donor name vs. recognition name.

  • A donor name is the name of the person who actually contributed the money and whose name will appear in our private and secure donor database

  • A recognition name is the name of the person who will get recognized on the personal page of the participant or team where the donation was made.

For example, a donor name would be John Doe and the recognition name could be "The Doe family - John, Jane and Fluffy"
