Help Rescue the Pekingese Pack
Each year, the July 4th holiday sends a rush of animals to area shelters, but for Austin Humane Society, this year it was July 3rd that brought more than a dozen elderly Pekingese mixes through our doors.
The Pekingese Pack, as we have affectionately started to call them, lost their home this week when their elderly owner passed away. All fourteen dogs were immediately surrendered to the city and soon after arrived at our shelter.
While all were scared and confused by the sudden and unexpected move, as they settled into our emergency shelter we quickly found each one sweeter and more loving than the next.
Almost all of the dogs are well into their senior years and our veterinary team has now determined of the fourteen, eight are in desperate need of costly medical care. The problems range from potential heart and back trouble to eye and severe dental issues. The problems range from potential heart and back trouble to eye and severe dental issues.
We need your help to care for dogs like Kevin. Kevin is ten years old and has scaring in both of his eyes making it difficult to see. In addition, he has such severe dental disease he needs immediate attention before it causes, even more, health problems.
Then there is sweet Thelma, who is also ten. Thelma already lost one eye and is almost totally blind in the other. She also needs expensive dental care and is being watched closely for a very intense cough that could be a symptom of more severe health issues.
In all, the care for these eight animals will cost a minimum of $4,000. We need your help today!
Kevin, Thelma, and the rest of the Pekingese Pack have already been through so much. By making a gift today, you’ll provide immediate, life-changing care that will allow each of these sweet seniors to find their new forever homes as quickly as possible.
Thank you for unleashing hope for the Pekingese Pack!
