Welcome to My Personal Page
As a Black gay man living with HIV, I see the weight of this epidemic on the backs my my Black and Brown brothers. Currently, in Atlanta, their of some 50,000 people living with HIV, and almost half of them are lost to HIV treatment and care due to disservices they’ve experienced related to stigma, racism, poverty, few positive reflections of their culture at care providers or poor access to quality care and resources. THRIVE Support Services was founded by 3 Black gay men to offer non-traditional solutions to these barriers.
As a community partner, the monies raised from AIDS Walk will go back into the programs and services of THRIVE SS. We have a team goal of around $15,000. This will provide unrestricted funding so we can continue to support our over 3,300 members nationally at reaching and maintaining viral suppression, thus effectively assuring they can’t transmit HIV.
Any donation, large or small, will help toward reaching this goal. Also we ask that you continue to advocate for the inclusion and well being of all people living with HIV.
**Did you know that in the U.S., 1 in 5 persons infected with HIV is unaware of their status? (Info: Kaiser Family Foundation)
**Talking openly about HIV can reduce the stigma that keeps too many from seeking the testing, prevention, and treatment services, and support they need.**
