URGENT: Call Governor Newsom and tell him to protect kidney patients and VETO AB 290 NOW!

Support low-income kidney patients in California!

The California legislature just sent AB 290 to the Governor’s desk. AB 290 would require AKF to hand insurance companies a list of all our grant recipients in California, which violates the federal rules that we have to follow to operate our charitable premium assistance program.

If this bill becomes law there will be catastrophic consequences for the low-income, mostly minority patients we serve in California since we would be forced to stop helping patients in the state on January 1, 2020.

Please call Governor Newsom’s office at 916-445-2841 and ask him to veto this harmful bill or send an email.

Protect Kidney Patients and VETO AB 290 NOW!

Dear [Decision Maker],

As your constituent and as someone who has been affected personally by kidney disease, I am writing to request that you VETO AB 290. The bill will force the American Kidney Fund (AKF) to stop helping the thousands of low-income, mostly minority dialysis patients who rely on the nonprofit organization to pay the health insurance premiums that they cannot afford.

Sincerely,
