Stella Wibbenmeyer Schwent was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked hard, smiled often and spoiled her grandchildren. She lost her battle to ALS on Christmas Day 1996. Unfortunately, she was not the first in her family to fight this disease, nor would she be the last. Stella lost a brother to ALS and would eventually lose a niece as well. In 2021, her daughter Shirley Schwent Fox, began her own battle against ALS. Shirley was a wonderful mother of three, a loving grandma of 10, a sister and a friend to many. During her battle with ALS Shirley required in-home nursing support for medical treatment and more as her disease progressed. Shirely lost her battle to ALS January 10, 2024. As such, the family has established the Stella and Shirley Angel Fund to support in-home nursing care provided by the ALS Association for families living with ALS.
