ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Progress

Care Services

The ALS Association Rocky Mountain Chapter is here to be a valuable tool that you can use as you navigate your personal path with ALS. The verdict of ALS is delivered into the hectic hubbub and purpose of daily life – jobs, searching for a child’s college or playing with grandchildren, grocery shopping, house cleaning, gardening and bill paying, community activities and travel. Additional requirements for palliative care, medical equipment, estate planning and final arrangements flood “normal” life until they threaten to swamp it. So the person with ALS stands with a foot in two worlds that are rapidly moving apart. During all of this, we are here to support the person who has ALS, but also the community around them – family members, friends, co-workers and more.

Our website has information about all of the services we provide, but we are best able to help you in person. I encourage you to browse the site, but also call so that we can answer any specific questions you may have and discuss how we can continue to help you. It may be a referral for a second opinion, information about the latest drug trials or finding a piece of equipment to help with daily activities.

One way to keep informed is to receive our monthly Care Services e-newsletter. You can sign up here, and will begin receiving the newsletter at the first of the next month. These newsletters have the latest ALS research information, updates on our efforts on Capital Hill, medical equipment information, helpful tips and more.

Support groups are another great way of getting information about ALS. Occasionally speakers present on a specific topic, but often the groups are simply time to gather with others who are living with ALS and share experiences, tips and ideas.

We have Informational Handouts on a variety of topics that relate to living with ALS. These handouts are a great starting place for information; feel free to follow up with us about any questions that you may have.

The best advice we can give is to take advantage of all of the services available to you. We are honored to help you in any way we can.
