Chapter Resource Maps for California and Hawaii
Thanks to our
collaboration with ESRI, Inc., a
company that provides state-of-the-art mapping and analytics systems to
industries all over the world, and to the innovation of two of their employees
touched by ALS, Pat Dolan and Matthew Thomas, we now have Chapter
resource maps for both California and Hawaii, so that people with ALS and their families can find
the nearest Golden West Chapter support groups, multidisciplinary ALS centers
and clinics, and community outreach events in their area! These maps
also aid us logistically to be more efficient in service to the ALS community.
ESRI is headquartered in Redlands, California. For them, the fight against ALS is a personal one, as Pat has been living with ALS since 2016 and Matthew, who recently joined the project team, lost his brother to ALS. In appreciation for their efforts, Pat and ESRI were named our Community Champions at the 2018 Inland Empire Walk to Defeat ALS.
The company has also provided the Chapter with internal mapping tools that helped us to better visualize where the people we serve live in proximity to important resources like Multidisciplinary ALS Centers and Clinics, or Chapter Support Groups and Community Outreach Events. These maps aid us logistically to be more efficient in service to the ALS community. We are just scratching the surface of the analytical capabilities that ESRI has provided and are excited to share more in the near future.
All of us at the Golden West Chapter are grateful to ESRI for their ongoing philanthropy of time and financial resources in support of our Chapter's mission and the search for effective treatments and cures!
