Team McCarthy Challenge

A message from Brian Cassetta .

Dear Friends,

The Ice Bucket Challenge has gone a long way to raise awareness about ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). I would like to tell you about a courageous individual that is afflicted with this disease.

 Brendan McCarthy is 38 years old. He lives in Elmira, New York with his wife Killeen and their 4 awesome children. Brendan is a special education teacher. He always strives to do what is best for his family and students. He loves people and he loves life.

One year ago he was diagnosed with ALS. He didn't do anything to cause this and he certainly does not deserve it. He is slowly losing his strength. Walking is very difficult and will soon not be possible. He has trouble swallowing and speaking. He communicates with an iPad. He will soon need a feeding tube. But Brendan is a lover and he is a fighter and he has not given up. Despite his setbacks, he and Killeen display courage and they maintain positive attitudes that are an inspiration to me and many others.

 Please join me and contribute to the Team McCarthy Challenge. Half of the funds will go directly to the McCarthy Family. The other half will go to the ALS Association. Your contribution will improve the quality of life for families effected by ALS today and bring us closer to a cure in the future.
