Every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with – or dies from – ALS.
As some of you may know, my mother Yelena’s experience moving into an apartment building to achieve her dream to live in Manhattan is what sparked the genesis of Cobu.
In 2021, my mother passed away after her battle with ALS, a rare neurological disease that took her ability to speak, swallow, walk, and function normally. Seeing her strength and perseverance and her ability to spark joy for those around her even in her last days re-confirmed just how important our work at Cobu truly is. Her memory continues to inspire us every day and it's an honor to bring her love of community building, connecting people, & sparking joy to a global scale.
Our Cobu team and community are honoring her legacy by building a company with lasting impact and achieving our mission to empower everyone to feel like they belong where they live. Cobu is also honoring her legacy by supporting causes that are aiming to create a world without ALS.
This July - I am participating in a CEO Soak to fundraise for the ALS Association. The ALS Association was such a supportive community for our family through our mother’s ALS - and it is a true honor to support this group in all that it does for the ALS community & ALS research. Please consider donating or spreading the word - together we can create a world without ALS.
