I am representing Robinson Pipe Cleaning Company at the 8th Annual CEO Soak for The ALS Association Western Pennsylvania Chapter on August 8, 2024.
One of my good friends gave the last years of his life doing what he could to make ALS a livable disease for others while fighting it himself. I do this to hopefully keep others from having this experience. Please donate to my fundraising page, or better yet, register or recruit someone to be a Soakee alongside of me.
ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe. In the video clip from news coverage (Cut and paste to view - bit.ly/2P44CVN) from my first walk, Brett’s wife said it best,“It’s a disease that has no cure, so we know what our outcome is, but we’re here to hopefully change that for somebody else.” That strong message is hard to read or watch without leaking more than a little awesomeness. To me, that beats Lou Gehrig’s luckiest man quote!
This “grown up” version of the Ice Bucket Challenge encourages companies and employees to raise funds by providing the opportunity to see a local “bosses” get soaked in the PPG Place Fountain in Pittsburgh to raise money to provide patient care, advocacy, and research for the ALS community.
People with ALS can go from perfectly healthy to quickly being unable to move, swallow, or breathe. It can strike anyone at any time and there is no cure. We have had the opportunity to see a total solar eclipse and northern lights this year. How about adding a cure for ALS to these rare events! Through your gift to the CEO Soak, you help us to continue providing hope and help to those in our community living with ALS and their caregivers, while aggressively searching for new treatments and a cure.
