Unless this disease touches you personally, it's easy to just think "what a shame" and go on about your business of a truly blissful life.
I have known and loved now 2 people that have been cut down by this disease. One a cherished family member who died several years ago and one who is currently fighting the battle of his life. And man is he the most amazing warrior! He is a giftted Pediatrician, who became a lifeline to me and my then preteen daughter in the ealry 2000s. There is no more compassionate person than he, and I applaud his courage and will to see so many silver linings in his life despite so many obstacles. Enter the Hummingbird Fund. Hummingbirds are seen as messengers of hope, inspiration, and joy, tenacity and endurance. Jim Ogan and his family demonstrate this on a daily basis as they advocate for the ALS community. It's the very least I can do and such a blessing to be able to ride 25 K in his honor. Please join me in honoring the Plews Ogan Family who have given so much to so many in our community!
