Hello friends and family:
It's that time of year again. On Saturday, September 24th Nell and I are participating in the 18th Annual Napa Valley Ride/Walk to Defeat ALS. We will again be raising funds for the ALS Association, which provides care services; funds global, cutting-edge research; and supports important public policy initiatives. Raising awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure is still our goal.
As you may know, 8 years ago our friend and neighbor Miles was diagnosed with a slow progression type of ALS. The disease progression has slowed Miles a bit more this year. He is not walking any longer and speaking is more challenging. He has a home health care worker come three days a week for general care, as well as intensive body work, and he has massage therapy weekly as well. Miles remains remarkably busy in his shop at the house, keeping himself active and engaged. He and his family have been incredible throughout this journey.
Last year, through your outstanding generosity, we were able to raise three quarters of a million dollars during the Napa Valley Ride/Walk, making it the largest single fundraiser for ALS in the country, and the largest ALS charity ride/walk in the world. Team (s)Miles finished #1 overall last year raising over $100,000 with my supporters contributing over $6,000!
We'd love to have you part of Team (s)Miles again this year. If you cannot be with us on September 24th, you can still be a part of the team and help. If you would like to support Team (s)Miles, you can donate above.
I am so proud to be part of this effort making an enormous difference in the lives of those with ALS. Thanks again to all that have helped to make this possible each year with your generous donations.
