Thank you for visiting the Team ALS Sucks page!
Our team name was easy to create because ALS truly does suck.
Why We Hike...
We are participating in this year's hike in honor of our mom, Margie, who was diagnosed with ALS in January 2020 and has slowly deteriorated from the disease since then. Watching this disease take our mom’s ability to do everyday things has been extremely painful to watch and managing her care has been very stressful. We hike to spread awareness about this devastating disease and raise money in hope that in the future no family has to go through this.
What is ALS?
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of it's ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.
Why We Need Your Help
Together we are challenging ALS and making a difference in the lives of those impacted by this devastating disease. We are a part of Team Challenge ALS and the Hike to Defeat ALS because we are committed to raising money and awareness to support people right in our community who are living with ALS. The time is now to join us and help us push towards a treatment and a cure.
We have set our initial goal to raise $1,960 (the year our mom was born).
Your donations will be going directly to the ALS Association to support research, care services, and advocacy. No donation is too small and we are grateful for every dollar we can raise.
We are planning to hike four miles on Mt. Tam on June 12th. We will send an update about how much money we are able to raise once the hike is completed!
