I am walking to support a woman who I have always had such admiration for. Our paths crossed when our girls went to elementary and middle school together, Shell and Indira were in many of the same classes together. Cathy and Greg were supporters of all things having to do with the public schools. In volunteer efforts Cathy was always helping in the classroom and out. She was instrumental in getting a school garden started at the elementary school. She was always kind and a great listener. Many a morning we chatted on the school site corner or when dropping the girls for playdates, birthday parties and school events. Though its been a few years I will never forget our time together raising our girls and time spent in Burlingame with the Everson family. I walk for Cathy to honor her bravery and courage. I walk to raise monies for treatments and a possible cure for Cathy and all those affected by ALS.
What is ALS?
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.
