Why I'm getting my boots on.
As many of you will know I can't run. We'll maybe I can, but not far and not very well! There was a time I couldn't walk either, but I just about can and the idea of this challenge inspired me.
I am participating in the Running Bitcoin Challenge. I'm walking to support those affected by Lou Gehrig's Disease, known in the UK as Motor Neurone Disease, and to spread awareness for the urgency to find treatments and cures for this disease.
What is ALS/Motor Neurone Disease?
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.
I've only known one person with ALS and she passed in 2019. She had an amazing life full of adventure and success before and after diagnosis, it was an honour to spend time with her. I remember the first time we met and got to attend her funeral with hundreds of family and friends to celebrate her life.
I'm using this challenge to not only raise funds for a great cause but also to try and get my own mobility improved. Anything you give will help with both.
