Please Support Me...

I will be participating in the SuperHero 5k/10k Dash in memory of my SuperHeroes, my grandpa Randy Studier, and my dear friends Adam Murray, Sue Sturm, Steve Klein, and Julie Anderson.

This is an event designed to raise funds to support those with ALS in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and parts of Wisconsin.  I need your help to reach my personal fundraising goal.  This is a great time for you and I to become SuperHeroes together!   We can support those living with Lou Gehrig's Disease and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.

Please consider sponsoring me. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease. I encourage you get your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers involved!

Why We Need Your Help...

Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

This crippling disease can strike anyone. Each week an average of two Minnesotans are diagnosed with ALS and two die of the disease.  In North Dakota, one person is diagnosed with ALS each month and another dies.  ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.

Presently there is no known cause of the disease though research is being done.  People with ALS need our help more than ever.  Insurance often does not cover durable medical equipment--The ALS Association has a loan pool that allows people to use equipment at no charge.  Caregivers need a break--The ALS Association pays for a skilled home care worker to sit with the person with ALS while their caregiver runs errands.  People with ALS may need help speaking or controlling a TV, radio or light--The ALS Association provides augmentative communication devices that speak for those in need and help control the television, radio, lights and more.
