I'm asking for support for a cause that is very close to my heart....
(Since I first sent this out asking for donations 3 weeks ago, Gayle is now 100% wheelchair bound. The next thing she will need is lift. These things are incredibly expensive. If Gayle didn't have the support of the ALS association, these things would not be possible for her and her quality of life would diminish greatly. See below and please consider donating, even if its just a small amount. Every dollar helps!)
As manyy of you know, my dear friend Gayle Jacobs was diagnosed with ALS 5 years ago. If you have had the priveledge of meeting her, you know she is truly an amazing person. She's so funny, kind, and has the most positive outlook despite her disease . Even before her diagnosis she would say " Life is short... eat the cake, drink the wine." After her diagnosis her mantra has been "Quality of Life Trumps All" She is absolutely living a quality life because of the ALS Associations help.
On May 20th, I will be participating in the SuperHero 5K/10K Dash, an event designed to raise funds in support of those with living with ALS. I am reaching out to you because I need your help to reach my personal fundraising goal.
Obviously a cure is out of reach for Gayle, but the money donated to the ALS association has helped to provide numerous things that have enabled Gayle to live her best life. She has been given wheel chairs, walkers, railings, faucets and other gadgets that help her through out the day. The most beneficial thing she has received is a mobility scooter which has allowed her to go just about anywhere she wants to go. She has taken trips to Jamaica, London, Paris, Cabo San Lucas, even South Africa! She's been able to attend Gopher games, concerts, and go to friends cabins (including mine!) She would never have been able to do those things, or live any kind of normal life without these things that have been provided by the ALS Association. I personally have been able to spend more quality time with Gayle because of the ALS Association. Please consider the difference that you might be able to make in the lives of people affected by this disease, including Gayle. Join me at Harriet Island on May 20th or make a donation!
Why Your Help Matters...
Also referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly takes away the body's ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. There is currently no cure for the disease with life expectancy averaging 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
I'm asking you to support my fundraising efforts. Help make a difference and donate today by clicking on the Donate key. And most importantly.... EAT THE CAKE and DRINK THE WINE!!
Thank You!
Cyndi
