Please support me and honor my mom.
I will be participating in the SuperHero 5k/10k Dash, an event designed to raise funds in support of people living with ALS and their caregivers. I am reaching out to you because I need your help to reach my personal fundraising goal.
My mom was diagnosed with ALS in February 2019 and passed away on Dec. 3, 2020. Together, we can honor her by supporting those living with ALS while spreading awareness of the urgency to find treatments that will lead to a cure.
Why Your Help Matters...
Also referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly takes away the body's ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. There is currently no cure for the disease with life expectancy averaging 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
We are thankful for the ALS Association and the support they provided our family during my Mom's ALS battle. The loan pool allowed her to access equipment at no charge. ALS Association also helped provide respite care, allowing my Dad, to take a much needed break, or simply run errands or get to Dr. appointments. The ALS Association also provided augmentative communication devices that allowed my Mom to type messages using her eyes, so she was still able to communicate with us up until the very end. I'll forever be grateful for their support and want to make sure other ALS families have access to these valuable resources.
