Greetings!
Over the last few years, I've used my platform as Superintendent of the DeSoto Parish School System to generate awareness and funds for great organizations that help others. I have paired this work with my desire to promote healthy lifestyle choices within our students, educators, and community. Each year, I've completed a marathon to raise money for worthy causes. In fact, over the last two years, we've raised $17,880 for organizations like St. Judes and Wounded Warrior Project. During that time, I ran marathon miles for children who battled cancer and disabled veterans. We're not done yet!
This year, I have partnered with the ALS Association to raise awareness and funds for research. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's, is a progressive disease, meaning it gets worse over time. It affects nerves in your brain and spinal cord that control your muscles. As your muscles get weaker, it gets harder for you to walk, talk, eat, and breath. Well-known individuals like Professor Stephen Hawking and New Orleans Saint Steve Gleason have this disease. However, there are about 30,000 other American suffering with this disease. I would like to end this disease and eradicate it from our world. I will need your help.
To raise money this year, I will be running the Rock-n-Roll Savannah Marathon. I've set a personal fundraising goal of over $5,000 again. Once again, I will PERSONALLY finance my training and all travel associated with participation so that 100% of your donations go directly to the ALS Association where a cure may be around the corner. Neither the ALS Association nor Rock-n-Roll Marathon are financing any of my travel expenses.
Please make a donation on this site. Also, if you know an individual with ALS, and would like me to dedicate a marathon mile to them, please let me know. I can't do this alone; I need your help. More importantly, those suffering from ALS and those who have yet to be diagnosed need your help. That's you! Donate Now!
