I'm participating in Team Challenge ALS to raise funds and awareness to help fight back against this terrible disease. The ALS Association provides much needed patient services resources, funds global, cutting edge research, and much more in order to help those living with ALS right in our community.
Angela Weaver Hannon was just too cute to even think about talking to back in high school but I knew she was sweet, kind and funny. And I was shy. Today, I still get to see that cute smile thanks to Facebook. I’ve been a distant witness to her tenacious fight against ALS. I adore that her family and friends find ways to get her out and active, including boating and playing in the ocean.
Ohio friends who are able to spend time with her tell me that she keeps an unflinching positive outlook, fighting personality and has tremendous love and support from a large contingent of family and friends.
Many of you know that I draw race participation inspiration from many sources. Whether it be the cause or non-profit organization benefiting from the race or the individual stories that created the race.
On January 14, 2018 I will tackle my first marathon. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon. They offer a number of non-profit organization teams you can apply to join. I was immediately drawn to #teamchallengeALS. I applied and was accepted!
Angela’s strength, determination and constant smile are my inspiration for completing my first marathon. I will carry her name on my race bib and keep that smile and determined spirit on my mind to carry me to the finish line. Keep fighting Angela!
