Here is a special message from Bob Boyd (1947-2020) shared upon the creation of The Bob & Hope Boyd Caring Fund:
I was diagnosed with ALS in January of 2016. The good news is I have been blessed by God with a loving and caring wife and a supportive family. I have also received a great deal of assistance from the ALS Clinic at UCSF, the Veteran’s Administration, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and The ALS Association Golden West Chapter, I find myself in the best possible circumstances.
However, there are many ALS patients who do not have our personal and financial resources. Among these are approximately 100 families in the Central Valley from Kings to Stanislaus counties. Their ages range from their twenties to their nineties. Some families are in desperate need of respite care for family caregivers. Others are in need of durable medical equipment (DME) such as canes, walkers, grab bars, transport chairs, etc. There is also a need for Alternative Augmentative Communication equipment (AAC) to help clients communicate.
To help meet these needs we have established the “Bob and Hope Boyd Caring Fund” through The ALS Association Golden West Chapter. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance for those who cannot afford the above stated needs.
We estimate that we will need at least $2500 a month to sustain the fund. One-time gifts are welcomed. However, we are looking for individuals and corporations who will give on a monthly basis. Twenty five and fifty dollar a month gifts will help but perhaps you have the resources to match our $100 a month gift or more.
