Our father, John Biener, was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in early 2014 after complaining to his doctor of leg cramps. It was the worst case scenario. ALS is currently a death sentence, slowly robbing a person of his/her body while the mind is intact. Over the two years that followed, the disease progressed quickly. He died on November 4th, 2015 with his three children and sister by his side.
Nobody this day in age should have to suffer such a horrible death. After watching our father's body degrade and witnessing the emotional turmoil that ensued, we aim to help other patients and families cope with similar experiences as well as fund research in the race to find a treatment and cure.
