Thank you so much for supporting Panthers on the Prowl in the Walk to Defeat ALS. I lost my Dad, Perry Neilson, on March 9, 2021, to ALS after his courageous five-year battle. My Dad was an inspiration to all, approaching each day with a smile and a positive attitude despite unimaginable adversity. His indomitable spirit, kindness, and selflessness touched everyone he met.
Our team name, Panthers on the Prowl, stems from the phrase my Dad chanted at every basketball game at the Academy of St. Elizabeth. In 2018, he was honored as Parent of the Year at the Academy of St. Elizabeth and played a pivotal role as a founding member of the Academy of St. Elizabeth Parents Association.
The Walk to Defeat ALS raises funds to support those affected by this progressive and fatal neuromuscular disease. ALS slowly robs individuals of their ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe, with an average life expectancy of 2 to 5 years from diagnosis. With no known cause or cure, ALS can strike anyone. That’s why I’m walking – to change the statistics, bring help and hope to those living with the disease, and ensure that no one ever hears the words “You Have ALS” again.
Please consider walking with me or sponsoring me. With your help, we will make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.
