Thank you for helping me reach my Walk to Defeat ALS fundraising goal as part of our team “Take a Lapp for ALS”.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure. 

My wife and I are engaged in this cause as a result of losing our dear friend Rodney Lapp in 2019 to the scourge of ALS.  We experienced firsthand the frustration and pain of seeing Rodney’s health slowly deteriorate month by month over his final years of life.  But, more importantly, what we were able to take away from this relationship with Rodney was his strong, positive and faithful spirit throughout his journey with ALS.  He served, and still serves today, as a role model for all of us in times of human challenge and suffering. 

Because of Rodney and his journey.....that’s why we are walking.....that’s why we are asking.

Please consider making a donation in helping to reach, and exceed, our Walk to Defeat ALS fundraising goal.  The donated funds support those affected by ALS and help to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. 

The past two years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.

We want to change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease, and with the help of your generous donation, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.
