It’s time for the ALS walk again. I want to raise $2000 to help find the cure to this horrible disease. Please help me. Although I have a rare form of this disease called Primary Lateral Sclerosis, or PLS. It has taken my ability to walk, transfer, talk, even to dress myself. What I still can do is laugh, enjoy my family and my eleven grandchildren. The Evergreen Chapter has helped me in so many ways. Why We Need Your Help

PLS (Primary Lateral Sclerosis) is a rare neuro muscular disease characterized by progressive muscle weakness in the voluntary muscles. PLS is a subset of ALS. It is normally NOT fatal, but it IS extremely life altering, presenting challenges with mobility, swallowing and communcation.

ALS, (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), often called Lou Gehrig's disase, is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
