ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure. My son Randy was one of those hit by this disease. Diagnosed in early 2020, he had to retire from his position as head of the UWMC Cambia Palliative Care Center at Harborview in Seattle but was able to continue working from home with his research team until his death from the ravages of ALS in January 2023.

That’s why I and my family and our friends walked at Marymoor Park last year, depicted so well in the pictures shown in the banner above, and I hope to be able to do so in 2023. To change the statistics. Why? To honor my son Randy (February 14, 1960-February 6, 2023) and to bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: “You Have ALS” again.
