Thank you for supporting me in the Walk to Defeat ALS® and helping me reach my fundraising goal! This is an exciting opportunity for us to work together to support those affected by Lou Gehrig's Disease and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.
I started the Iron Forse team in memory of my grandmother, Doris Powell, who lost her battle with ALS in 2007. With your help, we can make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease, so please consider walking with me or sponsoring my team. I encourage you to get your friends, family, neighbors and coworkers involved!

Why We Need Your Help
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a deadly disease with no cure. But with your help, we can make a difference for people suffering with this devastating disease.
Imagine that you're awoken at night with slight twitches in one of your limbs. Your speech begins to slur. You're fatigued by small tasks and suddenly begin to fall inexplicably. You have trouble picking up papers or even using a pen. You seek medical counsel, but are given no satisfactory answers. That is often just the beginning of the devastating journey of an ALS patient. Within a short time, many patients find themselves wheel-chair bound, unable to communicate, and trapped inside of a body that can no longer function.
The disease affects the motor neurons in a person's brain and spinal cord. When the motor neurons die, the muscles waste away. Gradually, a person is robbed of the ability to walk, speak, eat, and eventually breathe. All the while, the mind remains sharp and aware of the total paralysis that is quickly setting in. Upon diagnosis, doctors give ALS patients only two to five years to live.
And that's why I’m walking – for those who can’t. With this journey, I'm helping The ALS Association fund research to find the cause and cure of Lou Gehrig’s Disease. My participation also helps support services for people affected by the disease. My personal fundraising goal is $250 and our overall team goal is $500. By making a one-time, tax-deductible donation, you can truly make a difference in the fight against ALS.
