I have been fortunate to be a partner with the ALS Association in Wichita by being one of two physicians that runs our multidisciplinary clinic. Our clinic is made up of individuals from various health care fields that have either been personally affected by ALS or have a passion for patients with neurological diseases. Our clinic takes care of 40-50 patients a year from around the state of Kansas.
ALS is a disease in which the nerves to the muscles die. The patients with this disease lose their ability to walk, move, and talk. Eventually they lose their ability to breath or swallow which ultimately leads to death. Treatments are few and ineffective. Most patients die within 2-5 years of diagnosis.
This disease robs patients of their identity. This disease robs families of their fathers, mothers, grandparents, children, friends, and supporters. We strive to support these patients and their family on their journey. We hope to give them back some dignity and make them feel like people again.
Please consider joining me or making a donation. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease. Donations help run the clinic, help patients acquire equipment, fund research, and fund advocacy.
