Help End ALS with your donation!
Event: | Western Massachusetts Walk |
Date: | Saturday, September 14, 2024 |
Team: | Carol's Cast of Characters |
It has now been 6 years participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS.
I will never forget what Carol went through. How she continued to show courage and determination as she lost the use of her legs, arms, hands, and finally her way to eat and communicate. All this while suffering a constant discomfort made less by her laughter. ALS took Carol, but not our commitment to continue to remember her as she was. Vibrant, happy maybe a little fickle and a great golfer!!
We cherished every moment we could spend with her. She loved having friends and family around. The ultimate hostess even when she could not serve us herself. We were all inspired by her fortitude and positivity. She managed to smile on the darkest of days!
I am committed to helping raise money and awareness to end the helpless struggles that people with ALS and their families continue to experience. I depend on all of you to assist me in my mission to honor and remember the spirited, smiling person of Carol Monti Nichols!!
Any donation is greatly appreciated. I will walk with thoughts of Carol in my mind because we all know that she would be doing it herself!!
The past four years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families. WE CAN'T STOP NOW!
Please consider walking with me or sponsoring me. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the meantime it costs an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to bring help and hope today!
