I got the ALS diagnosis at the Mayo Clinic on December 12, 1996; this after over eight years of symptoms and misdiagnosis. 

I know I am an anomaly as the life expectancy of a person after they receive the diagnosis of ALS is only two to five years. Therefore, I am determined to raise dollars, to advocate for and increase awareness of ALS in memory of the hundreds of pALS I have known, who are no longer here to participate in the Walk to Defeat ALS.
