Help Support Team Panning in our 15th Year in the Walk to Defeat ALS
Event: | Twin Cities Walk |
Date: | Saturday, September 7, 2024 |
Team: | Team Panning |
Team Panning is walking for our 15th year! We walk every year to remember mama Liz and raise money for an organization that is doing a lot of good in the lives of people affected by ALS!
This year the Walk will be held at the Mall of America in Bloomington, BUT.... As a family , we have decided to not participate in the indoor walk and would prefer to be outdoors. Therefore we are going more low key this year. We will be walking around Lake Phalen on Sunday Sept. 8th. Plan to meet around 1pm and walk at 1:30pm. Followed by a potluck picnic at the park. We will meet outside the main pavilion area that has lots of parking. Feel free to bring a food or drink to share. Let us know if you plan to attend!
The time has come again, it is the time of year that Team Panning is getting together to remember an amazing person and taking a stand against ALS. Having support from wonderful people in my life has made the journey our family has been on, and continues to experience a little bit easier. The journey of ALS is different for each individual facing the disease, as well as all the families there to support them. It is the most difficult thing seeing the disease take over someone's life, that is why this walk is so important to me and my family. The ALS association in MN was amazing and helpful for our family and my mom the entire time we needed them. They support so many people affected by this disease and I am more than happy to walk with them every year.
Thanks for considering a donation to support Team Panning in defeating ALS. With help from people like you, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the mean time it costs an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
