The Journey for Joan team is now in its 7th year of walking. It was started for Joan Bruns who was diagnosed with ALS in November 2011. We will now be walking in memory of Joan, as the disease took her life in June of 2013. It would mean the world to Joan and her family if you would consider donating to a walker on our team, or join us for a day of walking and remembering Joan while raising funds to fight off this awful disease. One day we hope that this disease will be gone for good, and until then we will do whatever we can to bring awareness to the disease. Thank you to everyone who is able to support us in whatever way they can, whether it be a donation or if you are able to join us on walk day.

Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
