Thank you for helping us reach our Walk to Defeat ALS fundraising goal for Mike!
The Walk raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.
Mike was diagnosed on November 28th, 2019… a day he will never forget. So much uncertainty but we knew something was wrong. He suffered 2 cervical surgeries thought to be the cause of the atrophy in his hands and arms, but the surgeries didn’t work. It took several years for the neurologists to determine his symptoms were caused by ALS. Shortly after his diagnosis, Mike was forced to retire.
But this hasn't stopped him! Mike is a fighter, and he'll tell you that he's stubborn. He pushes through every challenge he's had to face in the last 5 years. He inspires those who know him with his tenacity and his ability to get the most out of each day, one day at a time. His inner strength is infectious to all those around him.
We ask for your prayers that the Lord will show Mike favor and bless him with many more years. We believe there will be a cure for ALS but we need your help. Please walk with us again this year!
Note: Our team, Mike's Menagerie will be having a private walk on Saturday, September 7th. Keep an eye on your email for details.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
