It's that time of year again and the Ocean City Walk to Defeat ALS is approaching fast!
I'm reaching out to my family and friends to ask for a donation to this worthy cause. Please consider making a donation to help us reach our fundraising goal. There is no amount too small! Any amount is greatly appreciated!
Why I do it.... My Mother passed away from this horrible disease back in May of 2011. I witnessed first hand how devastating this disease is! I watched it rob my Mom of her ability to walk, her ability to use her hands and arms, her ability to speak and swallow, and finally her ability to breath. Her mind was NOT affected, as is the case with ALS. She essentially became a prisoner in her own body. I wouldn't wish this disease on my worst enemy!
The Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the ALS Association was my family's saving grace. They provided so much caring and support to both my Mother and our family. They provided services that were crucial for caring for my Mother and much needed support to my family. They even reached out to us after my Mom's passing to offer condolences and support. My family and I are forever grateful to them. This is why my Sister, my niece, my daughter and I became involved with this fundraiser.
The mission of The ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, is to lead the fight to cure and treat ALS through global, cutting edge research and to empower people with Lou Gehrig's Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.
