On December 2, 2022 Eric was diagnosed with ALS and our lives have forever changed! Eric has entered the next phase of this disease that has taken away so much from him physically, BUT GOD!!
In Eric’s own words…
"I have clearly entered a new phase in my ALS journey…I’m significantly more tired and napping with my sleep machine now during the day…I am filled with great hope and purpose still…this has a new pulse though…hope for eternity is on another level now…not eminent but a tangible hope that brings me great joy…this joy and hope is challenging in a way I have never experienced…one that has brought up many tears …processing emotions, hurt, and pain that God is asking me “do you trust me with your emotions, hurt, and pain?” …I’m acknowledging and trusting in Him to another depth, as I am learning the truth behind “time is a gift”…prayers for a deeper understanding of His depth of love and care for me …I’m in a great place while having to accept the reality I am progressing through the disease…”im climbing the same hill with the same purpose and have shifted down a gear” is the lesson or season I am in…
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:1,2
Thank you for being our “…cloud of witnesses…” with ALL your support, prayers, meals, thoughts, visits, love, and helping me reach my Walk to Defeat ALS fundraising goal! The Walk to Defeat ALS raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
That’s why I’m walking. To change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: “You Have ALS” again.
The past two years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.
But, we can’t stop now. The key to a cure begins with you.
Please consider walking with me or sponsoring me. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.
