Fundraising for Grandma Rosie
ALS stole my Grandma Rosie in March of 2009, and my family and I walk in her memory. This is our tenth annual walk – thank you for helping us raise funds to help fight back against ALS.
The ALS Association of St. Louis helped my Grandma Rosie and our family immensely during her illness. The money we raise will support people with ALS and their families, as well as advocacy and medical research.
Since 2011, The Rose Express has raised more than $21,000. I'm proud of what we've done and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish together this year! Please make a donation and join the fight against ALS.
Why I Need Your Help
Better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. It sounds awful because it is.
- The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages two to five years from the time of diagnosis.
- Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease.
- It costs an average of $200,000 per year to provide care for a person with ALS.
- ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic or socioeconomic boundaries.
- We do not know the cause of the disease, but support is bringing researchers closer to an answer every day.
Please donate today - your support will provide services to people with ALS and their families, empower advocacy, and fund medical research to find treatments and — ultimately — a cure for Lou Gehrig's Disease.
