Thank you so much for your support in reaching my fundraising goal for the Walk to Defeat ALS! Your contribution means the world to me.
Recently my friend Les was diagnosed with ALS, and it sparked a deep desire within me to take action and make a difference. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
That's why I'm participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS. The Walk to Defeat ALS raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. I want to change the statistics, bring hope to those living with ALS, and ensure that no one else has to hear those dreaded words: "You have ALS."
Over the past two years, there have been significant advancements in ALS research and improved access to care for individuals affected by the disease. Legislation has also been enacted to enhance the quality of life for ALS patients and their families.
But our work is not done. The journey to finding a cure starts with each one of us. I invite you to join me in walking or consider sponsoring me. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of people affected by ALS.
Thank you again for your incredible support. Your generosity brings us one step closer to a future without ALS.
