Our Dad, Donald "Casey" Coram, was diagnosed with ALS in 2013. After his diagnosis his life was filled with a lot of lasts. My Dad climbed his last ladder, cleaned out his last gutter, installed his last hitch, mowed his last lawn, carried his last cat, and gave us his last hugs.
Sadly Dad lost his battle with ALS May 2016.
We would like to invite you to help our family fund a few firsts. The first effective treatment. The first vaccine. The first cure.
We would like to invite you to join us at the ALS Walk on April 30, Winston-Salem Fairgrounds (new location) in Winston-Salem. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. and the Walk starts at 10 a.m. and is over by 11:30 a.m.
We understand if you are too busy and that is okay. Please make a donation and we will walk for you, and for my Dad, and the thousands of others suffering from this horrible disease.
I hope you will take a moment to consider supporting our family in our efforts to find a cure for a terminal disease that has no cure. A disease that hits mostly young healthy active people. My dad worked out all the time and maintained a healthy weight all his life. We need to find a cure and we need to raise funds to fund the cure.
Please consider walking with our family or sponsoring our efforts to find a cure for our Dad and others with ALS. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease. I encourage you to get your friends, family, neighbors and coworkers involved!
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the mean time it costs an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
Thank you for helping us reach our fund raising goal! Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Our team is committed to raising money to support people in our community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatment and a cure. Please consider joining our team in the Walk to Defeat ALS® or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause.
Thank You!
