I am inviting you to participate with the Edvengers in the ALSA Orange County Walk to Defeat ALS fundraising for 2022. Donate to the cause for the fundraising team members.
It's been over seven years since I was diagnosed with ALS. I am lucky or stubborn enough that I can still talk and type, and move (with help). I have outlived clinical trials for failed experimental treatments, and look forward to new experimental treatments to advance a cure. Research to find continued treatments for this disease is the ALS Walk funding goal, and why I need you on my team!
Past ALS Walks have brought together many family and friends for a casual day out. There is a physical Walk to Defeat ALS this year. The need for funds remains real. I am inviting friends and donors to lunch on the walk day, a get together to see old friends.
Walk funds are allocated to national ALS research, and for local support of people and families in Southern California. Please make a donation and support my efforts to make a difference for people and families living with this disease.
Any amount is greatly appreciated and will be put to impactful use.
Thank you for helping team EDVENGERS reach our fund raising goal!
Why We Need Your Help
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, not even eighty years after Lou Gehrig was struck with ALS and made this disease well known with his name. No treatment or cure exists. Research for a treatment or cure is expensive and is almost all funded by charity donations. It is also expensive to provide care for people living with ALS, and their family needs, expenses that Medicare and Healthcare Insurance do not cover. These are some of the lessor known areas that the ALSA, and your ALSA donations, help out (in addition to research funding). .
Thank you for helping team EDVENGERS and the ALSA.
