Hello everyone, Jeanette here.
This is a personal story. My father, John, was diagnosed with ALS in December of 2016. He passed away in February of 2021. I miss my dad every single day, and I know that I'm not the only person out there who has lost someone to ALS and is hurting. These walks are our way to band together and support each other, but also to raise money for research to end this disease.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
That’s why we’re participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS. To bring hope. To raise awareness. To provide resources and services to families free of charge. To help unlock the mystery of ALS and find the key to treatments a cure.
On behalf of me, my sister, my stepmother, and my dad, thank you for finding your way here. I hope to see you on the walk days, either in Columbus (18 September) or Cincinnati (25 September).
