COVID Won't Stop Us ...

Families living with ALS perpetually worry about illness and especially respiratory viruses. COVID-19 poses an incredible challenge to the ALS community. We're excited to help and (virtually) participate in the 2022 SuperHero 5k/10k Dash on May 14 to raise funds to support those with ALS in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and parts of Wisconsin.

We need your help to reach our fundraising goals. Toether, we can support those living with Lou Gehrig's Disease and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.

Why We Need Your Help...

Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

Presently there is no known cause of the disease though research is being done. People with ALS need our help more than ever. Insurance often does not cover durable medical equipment--The ALS Association has a loan pool that allows people to use equipment at no charge. Caregivers need a break--The ALS Association pays for a skilled home care worker to sit with the person with ALS while their caregiver runs errands. People with ALS may need help speaking or controlling a TV, radio or light--The ALS Association provides augmentative communication devices that speak for those in need and help control the television, radio, lights and more.
