This year marks a change in our lives as walk in honor of Kurt and his 6 year fight against ALS. We will always remember his bright smile, even in the face of the devastating effects of this horrible disease. He fought with every ounce of strength, intelligence, emotion and with a strong faith in God. Our goal is to raise $5000 as we continue to fight in his honor.
We know that there are many families still in need of the compassionate support provided by the ALS Association. Through the years we frequently turned to the ALS chapter for answers to questions, loaner equipment, supplies, referrals and emotional support. The people and resources of this organization gave us a roadmap for a journey that few ever have to take. We ask that you join us in making sure that others in Kurt's situation have this support as well.
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
