On November 6th, I will be running the 2022 New York City Marathon as a member of Team ALS and in memory of my aunt, Martha Olson-Fernandez. She was diagnosed with ALS in 2011 and battled the relentless disease until December 17, 2012. Martha was not only an incredible woman and role model, but also an avid exerciser, always encouraging others to get outside and move their bodies. So that is exactly my plan - for 26.2 miles!
Running a marathon has always been a goal of mine, but Team ALS has given me an opportunity to combine this goal with a much more important one - fighting to find a cure for ALS. ALS is a devastating disease currently with no cure or proven treatment. In addition to funding cutting-edge research, the ALS Association provides much-needed patient services and support for those living with ALS.
For all the reasons above, I am asking for your help on this journey to defeat ALS. Any donation / support is greatly appreciated!
