About Ride to Defeat ALS: Florida

The annual Florida Ride to Defeat ALS is an opportunity for friends, family, and the local community to join together to support those people affected by ALS in Florida. Funds raised at this event help to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest. We offer multiple routes and ride lengths to participants of all abilities. Enjoy lunch, a beer garden and music at our post-Ride celebration!

Location- Lake Louisa State Park 7305 US Highway 27 Clermont, FL 34714

Registration Opens: 7 AM (Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your ride time)

Ride Start Times:

62-Mile Route Start: 7:45am

30-Mile Route Start: 9:30am

20-Mile Route Start: 10am

10-Mile Route Start: 10:30am

Directions and Parking

We will be hosting our event at Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont, FL again this year. There is ample free parking! Once you enter the park, stay straight on the road and head back until you see the event off to the left. It is a 5 minute drive from the entrance of the park. Please tell the park entrance attendant you are here for the Ride to Defeat ALS and you will not be charged to enter.

2024 Ride Routes

10, 20 & 30 Mile Route (Route is 10 Miles. Stay RIGHT the entire route. 20 and 30 mile route will repeat 10 mile route). 62 Mile route will repeat route 6 times. On the 7th route, go straight to guard shack and back to start/finish.

Rider Checklist

Required:

Helmet - Helmets are REQUIRED for ALL cyclists.
Spare tubes and/or a patch kit, tire irons

Suggested:

Gloves
Sunglasses or other protective eyewear
Sunscreen and lip balm
Cycling Shoes (if you have them)
CO2 or mini-pump

Fundraising

Ride is so important because it raises the essential funds needed to fulfil our mission. This year, we have a goal of $125,000! We have a lot of work to do to get there, but I am confident we can! Fundraising will be the same as it has been in year's past. You will still have your own fundraising page that can be linked to Facebook. You will also be able to recruit teammates to join your cause.
