My family and friends have been raising funds for ALS throughout Alberta and BC for over 25 years. My brother Mike believes we’ve raised almost $900,000 over that time. Maybe more. I walk for my sister Anne, who was by any measure, a true warrior, and passed away on November 11, 2017. Even though she’s gone we live in the hope that we find a treatment or cure ...or a clue...about and for ALS. We’re closer than ever with recent research finding a way to block ALS progression in animals. Human trials are next
My goal is to raise $2000…can you help?
The Move to Cure ALS is the signature fundraising event for the ALS Society of British Columbia, which brings together family and friends in support of ALS.
People come together to “Move”; be it walking, running, rolling, supporting or being present. Funds raised go to support people living with ALS in BC and the Yukon, and to support research through PROJECT HOPE.
Our goal is to end ALS through creating a world class ALS Centre at UBC. 100% of all donations to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis of British Columbia will remain in BC to support patient services programs (60%) and research (40%) through PROJECT HOPE.
Thank you for joining me in supporting the ALS Society of British Columbia.
A bit more about Anne:
My sister Anne was incredible...what more can I say about her? She lived every day she was given despite her grief and loss.
She focused, against all odds, on what she HAD, not what she did not have. That's not an easy task. She said that's how she was able to carry on.
So I'll do try to do that now for her... I will carry on and walk in her honour, in her memory...
being tired or crabby or hungry or surviving is a privilege. I choose to think of all the times I told her a dirty joke, a tawdry tale, or a secret shame and made her forget she was even sick. I forgot she was sick all the time. I miss every moment...she was simply my favourite person.
Thanks for your time. It's never a waste to remind people of what she meant to me...
Love ya...Mean it...
